Sean Workman

Sean Workman is a percussionist and educator currently based out of Valdosta, GA. Mr. Workman graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Georgia College and State University in 2012 (Milledgeville, GA). He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Percussion Performance from Valdosta State University (Valdosta, GA). Mr. Workman currently serves as the Graduate Assistant of the VSU Percussion Department, where he has a variety of performing and teaching responsibilities. 

As a performer, Mr. Workman has performed with a variety of ensembles including wind band, orchestra, big band, Jazz combo, and percussion ensemble. He has performed as a member of the Wellston Winds and Saoco Percussion. At Valdosta State University, he performs with the Wind Ensemble, top Jazz Ensemble, top Jazz Combo, Percussion Ensemble, and Valdosta Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Workman is also active as a musician with Crosspointe Church in Valdosta.

As an educator, Mr. Workman has found success with a wide variety of ensembles. Mr. Workman has worked as a percussion instructor for Georgia Military College Prep School, Veterans High School, Huntington Middle School, Thomson High School, and Valdosta High School. He has also worked as the Assistant Band Director/Percussion Instructor at Thomson-McDuffie Middle School and Warner Robins High School. His teaching duties at VSU include working with the Blazin’ Brigade Marching Band, co-conducting the Percussion Ensemble, and teaching studio lessons. 

Mr. Workman’s principal instructors have included renowned world percussionist Sr. Miguel Castro and Dr. Ryan M. Smith. Following his Master’s program, Mr. Workman plans to pursue a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Percussion Performance.
