A note about bamboo: Bamboo is a natural material with its own moisture content, which means it responds to changes in temperature and humidity. In very dry climates or environments with rapid changes in temperature and humidity (such as air travel), bamboo handles require extra care to help prevent drying and cracking.
If you live in a dry climate, we strongly recommend storing your mallets in their original plastic bags with a humidity control pack or a small instrument humidifier. If they'll be used primarily outdoors or by multiple players in a school setting, we recommend choosing carbon fiber handles instead. Carbon fiber is unaffected by climate and requires significantly less maintenance.

Two sounds. One pair.
The Upside-Down puts two distinctly different timpani sounds into a single mallet head. One striking surface features ultralight polyester fleece for an exceptionally clear, staccato response, while the opposite side combines German felt over a pool felt liner for a fuller, versatile general-purpose sound.
When the music calls for a quick change in articulation, there's no need to reach for another pair. Simply rotate the mallet in your hand and keep playing. The Upside-Down makes sudden shifts in character quick, intuitive, and secure.
