Nicolas Alvarez

Nicolas Alvarez is the Adjunct Instructor of Percussion at Wofford College. He teaches orchestral and world percussion, drum-set and marching percussion. He currently teaches an African Drumming and a Percussion for Music Therapists class at the University of Georgia. He previously taught at the University of North Greenville as an Adjunct Marching Percussion Instructor.
Nico is an active performer and is a section member of the Brevard Philharmonic (Brevard, NC) and regularly performs with the Augusta Symphony (Augusta, GA). He has performed with the World Ballet and regularly gigs within upstate South Carolina.
Nico has studied with Michael Rosen and Jamey Haddad at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (B.M., Music Performance), John Tafoya, Dr. Joseph Galvin, and Sean Dobbins at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and Timothy Adams and Kimberly Toscano Adams at the University of Georgia (M.M., Music Performance), and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Georgia (D.M.A., Music Performance).
