Matt Wyckoff

Matt Wyckoff is a performer and educator from New Jersey with a deep passion for classical, contemporary, and marching percussion. Currently residing in The Woodlands, Texas, he teaches percussion at The Woodlands High School and McCullough Junior High School.

​Matt is multi-faceted when it comes to performance, traversing from contemporary soloist, to orchestral percussionist, to gospel drummer. As the winner of the WCU Concerto Competition and the Clifton Foundation Emerging Artist Award, Matt performed Emanuel Sèjournè’s Concerto for Marimba and Strings with the WCU Symphony Orchestra and at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, PA. Matt was a percussionist for the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra based in Morehead, KY. Additionally, he has performed at the PMEA and KMEA conferences in Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

Through his marching arts performance career, Matt was a member of The Cadets, Cadets2 and United Percussion. He immediately began giving back to the activity by educationally advancing Cadets2 and Cadets Winter Percussion. Matt currently serves as the Front Ensemble Coordinator for The Cadets, embarking on his third instructional season for the ensemble.

Matt is an accomplished designer and arranger in the marching arts, writing for many high schools throughout the U.S., including Upper Darby High School, Boyertown High School, and Stamford High School.

​Matt received a Master’s Degree in Percussion Performance at Morehead State University where he assumed the role of Graduate Assistant, working closely with Dr. Brian S. Mason and Dr. Matthew Geiger. At MSU, Matt taught the marching band, percussion ensemble, and private lessons.

He also holds Bachelor’s Degrees in both Music Education and Music Performance from West Chester University. He credits much of his success to his studies at WCU with Dr. Chris Hanning, Dr. Ralph Sorrentino, Mr. David Nelson, Dr. Marc Jacoby and Dr. Adam Silverman.

Since their inception, Matt has been a fan and supporter of Artifact Percussion. As a member of the Artifact Artist family, he continues to advance percussion education and performance using their products exclusively.
