Marcus Pope is a professional drummer, percussion educator, and event organizer based in Huntsville, Al. He holds a BS in Music Performance from Alabama A&M University and is a proud honoree of the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation in Huntsville, Al. As the owner of Pope’s School of Percussion, he has been educating and inspiring students for over two decades. Marcus is endorsed by Remo drumheads. Marcus is known for his dynamic style, ranging from jazz, funk and gospel. Passionate about inspiring the next generation of drummers, Marcus organizes events like Back 2 Basics and Drummer’s Night Out bringing world renowned drummers such as Dennis Chambers, Will Kennedy, Greg Clark Jr., Teddy Campbell, Lil John Roberts, Trevor Lawrence jr., Omari Williams, Calvin Rogers, Larnell Lewis, Jorel JFly Flynn, Mike Johnston, JD Blair, Darrell Tibbs, PJ Spraggins, Dennis Dunn, Teddy Hall, and Terry Cornett. This year Marcus welcome Nick Costa, Mark Dicianni, and Justin Scott which marks the 11th year of Drummer’s Night out and the 13th year of Back 2 Basics workshop. He contributed to the 2017 Winter Olympics theme “Humanity” by Chris Blue, who won The Voice. Marcus is excited to partner with Artifact Percussion, continuing to share his passion for rhythm, education, and community. |
