Joshua Bohl

 Joshua Bohl is a percussionist and educator based in Charleston, SC. He has served as Director of Percussion at Berkeley Center for the Arts at Goose Creek High School since 2021. In this role, he directs the percussion and steel pan ensembles, teaches private lessons, and supports the marching and concert bands as Assistant Director. 

Students under his direction have been selected for All-County, All-Region, and All-State bands. Ensembles under his direction consistently receive superior ratings and top awards in competitive and adjudicated settings. Most recently, the Goose Creek High School Percussion Ensemble was selected as the featured percussion ensemble at the Annual Conference of the South Carolina Music Educators Association in February 2026. 

Prior to his appointment at Goose Creek, Josh taught percussion and supported bands at both the middle and high school levels throughout the greater Charleston area and in Oklahoma City, OK. He previously served as Adjunct Professor at Charleston Southern University, where he directed the Percussion Ensemble and taught Percussion Methods to students majoring in Music Therapy. 

Josh maintains an active performance schedule throughout South Carolina. He is a section percussionist with the North Charleston Pops! Orchestra, the Beaufort Symphony Orchestra, the Charleston Wind Symphony, and regularly substitutes with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Aiken Symphony, Florence Symphony, Long Bay Symphony, Footlight Players, and Charleston Stage Company. Josh performed at the National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy in 2016, and was a member of the 2010 WGI PIO Champion Palmetto Percussion. 

Josh holds a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Oklahoma, where he received a full graduate assistantship. In this role, he spent time teaching undergraduate lessons, assisting with percussion ensembles, and running the OU Percussion Press. He additionally holds the Bachelor of Arts in Percussion Performance from Charleston Southern University. Josh is proud to be an Artist Endorser for Artifact Percussion.
