Jack Milzarek

Jack Milzarek is a passionate and dedicated music educator and performer currently serving as the Assistant Director of Bands for the Mt. Vernon R-V School District in Missouri. In his role, he    teaches a wide range of students across various levels, including marching, concert, and middle school bands, as well as 5th grade general music. With a deep commitment to fostering musical talent in young students, Jack is known for his engaging and dynamic teaching style.

A proud graduate of Pittsburg State University in Kansas, Jack earned his Bachelor's in Music Education in 2020. He furthered his education at the University of Missouri - Kansas City, where he obtained his Master's in Music Performance in 2022. At UMKC, he studied with the renowned percussion ensemble Sandbox Percussion. His training with Sandbox Percussion deepened his expertise in contemporary percussion techniques and performance. In 2023, Jack continued his professional development by attending the Sandbox Percussion Summer Seminar, refining his skills and expanding his network within the percussion community.

In addition to his high school teaching career, Jack serves as the Adjunct Professor of Percussion at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Missouri, where he imparts his knowledge and passion for percussion to college students. His contributions to the local music scene also extend beyond the classroom as an avid performer in several community bands across Kansas and Missouri.

Jack’s musical talents have earned him recognition in the competitive field of percussion performance. Most recently, he won the Four State Symphonic Concerto Competition in 2023, performing Ney Rosauro's Timpani Concerto.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Jack lives in southeast Kansas with his wife, Lindsey, who is also a music educator. Together they share a love for music and making a positive impact on the musical landscape in their community. Jack's continued passion for music, both as a performer and educator, drives him to inspire and shape the next generation of musicians. He enjoys watching sports, specifically a fan of the Chicago Cubs and loves to cook.
