Darren Proctor, a music student at The California Institute of the Arts (Calarts), is currently pursuing a master’s degree in World Percussion. Under the guidance of Randy Gloss, Swapan Chaudhuri, and Houman Pourmehdi, Darren seeks to push the boundaries on what it means to be a world percussionist. Darren is a graduate of Morehead State University, where he received a Bachelor of the Arts Degree with a minor in Psychology, under the guidance of Dr. Brian S. Mason.

As a percussionist, Darren has performed with numerous ensembles at Calarts including the Persian, North Indian, Tabla, and World Percussion ensembles. During his time at Morehead, he was afforded the opportunity to perform with many ensembles throughout the department including: Concert and Symphony Bands, Percussion Ensemble, Steel Pan Ensemble, Marching Band, the top Jazz Ensemble, as well as various choir and choral related ensembles. Throughout his professional career, Darren has also been fortunate enough to learn and interact with various world renown artists such as: Swapan Chaudhuri, Randy Gloss, Houman Pourmehdi, Brian S. Mason, Matthew Geiger, Maraca2, Yousif Sheronick, Casey Cangelosi, and many others.

Darren is an artist and endorsee of Artifact Percussion.
